Field and site teams are the hardest to get right in attendance. Paper registers get filled in later, and phone calls do not scale. Geo-fenced punching solves the problem — as long as it is introduced carefully.

Check the punch, not the person

A good setup checks location at the moment of punching in or out, and only then. It answers one question: was this punch made at the site? It should not follow people through the day.

Be explicit

  • Tell employees what a punch captures: time, location, a selfie and battery level.
  • Explain that the fence protects genuine attendance; it is not there to catch people out.
  • Give a clear route for exceptions — a regularisation request, not a phone call.

Size fences sensibly

Fences that are too tight cause failed punches at the edge of large sites. Start generous, review the punch report, and tighten only where needed.

What HR gets

Each punch carries the fence name, so the punch report shows where attendance was marked. Exceptions stand out instead of hiding in a spreadsheet.
